Jacques: 'I Will Never Be A Pay Driver'
JV was linked with a move to Jaguar, with reports claiming that he was looking for sponsorship to clinch the deal. But JV has given short shrift to those claims and says that he would never contemplate paying for a drive.
"That's nonsense. If it's the only reason I'm wanted somewhere, then no way," the 1997 World Champion told Autosport. "Why would I do that? I won't be a pay driver. If all they're looking for is a pay driver, it's already the wrong attitude. That means you're not wanted for what you can bring on the work side. They don't care. It's just a business. I'm not interested in it."
"I will not prostitute myself. I never have and never will. I will not be on my knees just to drive in F1, to just be part of the paddock. If I'm wanted, it's because of my qualities."
